The first dissemination event of Herit-Data was held during the 9th edition of Internet Festival in Pisa, Italy, and the project delegation was hosted at the University Scuola Normale Superiore. Sergio Papiani, Davide Bruno and Luca Cipriani from Tuscany Region and Chiara Guiggiani from Foundation for Research and Innovation were the delegates invited. After the institutional welcome, Davide Bruno, the project coordinator, explained briefly the Interreg Med and the project structure. Specifically, he detailed some key aspects: project partnership, duration, objectives and targets, to then give an overview of the progresses made during the first year and a half of Herit-Data. Chiara Guiggiani then took the floor to talk about the technical activities related to the studying and testing phases. She detailed the main deliverables (achieved and to be developed): a benchmark study related to mass tourism and to the possible present and future uses of new technologies in the management of tourism, a list of tourism indicators with the related thresholds to monitor the carrying capacity in six different pilots of Mediterranean area and an ICT platform to collect all the data produced in the pilots and to restitute information useful for policy and decision makers. Luca Cipriani was the last speaker and he explained a new tool developed by Tuscany Region to perform the sentiment analysis on the social network twitter. In other words, with that specific tool it’s possible to monitor the trends and perceptions of tourists and citizens on the crowding of a city/specific area by selecting and searching for specific keywords. The tool processes the tweets and gives back the results in a dashboard with descriptive statistics, and will be eventually implemented in the Herit-Data platform.
